In moderate to severe cases, it is necessary to place a dental resin protection, known as an unloading splint, to prevent injuries and tooth affection.
It consists of using a relaxation plane while the patient sleeps, which is made with an exact fit in his mouth, placed over his upper teeth (in most cases) and protects them so that they do not grind against the lower teeth.
In addition, the unloading splint, from its first days of use, eliminates jaw, head or ear pain caused by bruxism, as well as other discomfort that may have appeared due to an overload of the jaw musculature.
At the Dental Clinic Dr. Patricia Gonzálvez, we have different types of unloading splints.
