Excess gum (gummy smile):

• Problem: The gums cover the teeth too much, making the teeth appear shorter than normal.

Solution: Crown lengthening, a procedure that removes excess gingival tissue and sometimes some of the bone tissue, exposing more of the tooth surface. This treatment is simple, painless and performed under local anesthesia.

Retraction of gums:

• Problem: Gums recede, exposing the roots of the teeth, which can cause sensitivity and an unsightly appearance.

Solution: Gum grafts, in which tissue from a part of the mouth (such as the roof of the mouth) is transplanted to cover exposed roots and restore a natural appearance.

Uneven gum line:

Problem: Some parts of the gums cover more of the teeth than others, creating an unbalanced smile.

• Solution: Gum reshaping, a cosmetic procedure in which the gum line is balanced, also under local anesthesia.
